Magna Academy, Poole

Magna Academy, part of the Aspirations Trust, is a comprehensive secondary school situated in Poole, on the Dorset coast. They have served students aged 11-18 and their families since they first opened in September 2013 and take great pride in being a responsible and encouraging community.

The team at NBB were approached by Magna Academy to provide a bespoke Winterbourne Freestanding Tiered Shelter, with guttering, to cover an open courtyard area and provide all-year-round shelter for students during break times.  

The finished project measures 20.5m x 13.6m and features a UV-stabilised 16mm triple wall polycarbonate roof, to fill the area beneath with light. To finish, the steel structure has been galvanised and powder-coated in Signal White RAL9003 to complement the surrounding aesthetic. This treatment guarantees the shelter to be maintenance-free for 15 years, with a service life of 25 years!
